Feline safety/welfare update from Linda Javadi:
I spoke to Kaitlyn Simmons at Cobb Best Friends (BF) Animal Society (770-262-0514). She said if there are any cats that need to be fixed, they do it all at NO Cost and will bring them back to our neighborhoods, to live as community cats.  Neighbors are welcome to transport the cats to BF or call BF to come and trap.  Kaitlyn said BF works closely with Cobb Animal Control.
BF will actually assist neighbors cat proof their property so that community cats do not become pests. Kaitlyn said she now has our neighborhoods on their watch list for any intake cats.  She said she will let our neighborhood contact know when releasing cats back to our neighborhood after fixing them and tipping their ear.
There is still the fact that Cobb County enforces the leash law equally for dogs and cats…so it is the homeowners right to not want them on their property. I talked at length with Officer Ralph Tate at Animal Control and he has noted concerns about the excessive number of cats coming in to his KILL Shelter from our area.  He asked that any time we see a trap in a neighbors yard that we call him at 770-590-5622.  He said they will happily come to check any trap to assure all ordinances are being followed and to offer neighbors safety reminders.
